Two Assistant/Associate Professor Tenure Track
Positions, The Department of Physics and Astronomy:
A tenure track assistant professorship in
experimental condensed matter physics, a tenure track assistant or associate
professorship in computational or theoretical condensed matter physics. For the 2nd position, they will
consider exceptional candidates in astrophysics with overlapping interest in
nanophysics or biophysics who can participate in the interdisciplinary
initiatives . Both positions will begin
in September 2010. Must have a B.S. in
physics and Ph.D. in physics or related discipline. The Department offers
degrees through Ph.D. and is very female friendly, with women comprising 25% of
the faculty and over 40% of the students at both graduate and undergraduate
levels. Applicants must apply through
the website: https://www.dujobs.org. The selection process will begin on January
15, 2010.
Assistant Professor of Physics
A Tenure-track position beginning July 1, 1020. A doctorate in physics is required, some
teaching experience is highly desired.
Considerations of applications will begin December 15, 2009. Apply by submitting a CV, transcripts,
research plan, and statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange for 3 letters
of recommendation sent to : Search Committee (Experimental Physicist), Physics
Department, Trinity College, 300 Summit Street, Hartford, CT 06106.

Postdoctoral
University of
Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, Institute for Condensed Matter Theory
Applicants are invited to fill a postdoctoral
fellowship position in condensed matter theory for the 2009-2010 academic
year. ICMT postdoctoral fellows have
wide latitude in their choice of research activities and are warmly encouraged
to be broadly engaged with condensed matter research activities in
Theoretical condensed matter work on superconductivity
with an emphasis on new mechanisms and the design of superconductors with
enhanced transition temperatures will be the primary focus. The start date is quite flexible. Applications received after November 15
cannot be guaranteed full consideration.

Caltech
A number of Prize Fellowships at the Postdoctoral
Scholar level in Theoretical Physics or Astrophysics will be awarded on the
basis of an international competition.
They are to begin in fall 2010.
The Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are for a three-year duration,
carry a competitive annual stipend and/or salary and offer an annual research
expense fund. Deadline for applications
is December 1. The announcement for this
opening can be found at http://www.pma.caltech.edu/GSR/fellowtheory.html
Condensed Matter/AMO Theory, The “Quantum Matters”
Group expects the opening of two – four postdoctoral positions to begin in the fall
2010. The candidate’s area of interest
should involve frustrated magnetism, cold atom systems, strongly correlated
many-particle physics, transport and nonequilibrium phenomena in
lower-dimensional systems, or numerical approaches to quantum many-body
theory. Applicants should prepare a
curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a brief research statement,
one or two selected (p) reprints, and arrange for 3 letters of recommendation
to be sent to: Department of Physics and
Astronomy
Must be complete by December 31st, 2009.
